Home Destinations Leipzig

Leipzig is the largest city in Saxony and has been a German centre of books, trade fairs and music for centuries. Johann Sebastian Bach was cantor of the Thomaskirche here from 1723 until his death, and in the autumn of 1989 the Monday gatherings at the Nikolaikirche grew into the demonstrations that changed East Germany. Turkish Airlines, AJet, SunExpress, Corendon Airlines and Freebird Airlines fly direct from Turkiye to Leipzig/Halle, and the flight from Istanbul takes about 2 hours 55 minutes. The city is compact and its centre walkable; music, contemporary art and industrial heritage fill three days without effort.
